structural roof repair

We were approached by the owner of Nashville Hostel to
assess the current condition of the space and found that the existing sky light had dropped by six inches due to improper framing and over seventy-five percent of the roof joists had been compromised in previous renovations.  Due to the construction methods used over one
hundred years ago, replacing the roof joists would not be an easy task.  We worked with our structural engineer to develop a detail that would allow for new LVL beams to be installed.  To further complicate the situation, two floors below the work space would have to remain occupied.  By our ability to come up with solutions to multi-faceted problems and having the experienced manpower to self-perform
difficult scopes of work, we were able to replace the entire roof structure,
keep the building occupied for use and never let water in the building. The restoration of this roof structure prevented this building from collapsing on the morning of the Christmas Day Bombing.
